The Blueprint of Tomorrow: 3D Models, Blockchain, and Writing Mastery

Hey Folks,

So...

This week a few of us from our company attended a pretty big conference for the highway construction industry. Not sure how many people registered. But I can tell you it was a lot.

Either way, I enjoy going… not to network, although it’s part of the game, and of course, we play the game. But I think it’s important to hear where the money is going.

Highway projects are typically funded by the government; and as you know taxpayers pay for our roads, highways, and infrastructure via taxes. So with that being said the government decides how they will allocate funds and as a small business you need to know where the money is going. Like my uncle always says, quoting Wayne Gretzky,

“Skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.”

And where this puck is going is interesting to me.

Showing up is a form of marketing. People get to know who you are, and you get a headstart on what’s coming in your industry.

Here’s one thing that was just interesting to me. And I think it’s indicative of what kind of world we are. Construction folks are the last… and I mean the last folks to change anything when it comes to technology. Probably for good reason.

You’re building a bridge or a road. Why would you change what has worked for ages? But the 2D plans that we use to build a project, will soon be 3D models updated in real-time. This will phase out 2D paper plans. This is interesting enough, but someone asked how will engineers seal their drawings.

Surprisingly, one of the first answers was blockchain technology.

I’ve been searching online, but they said some states have already sealed their models using blockchain. And if blockchain doesn’t register with you, basically it’s the technology behind cryptocurrency.

I’m just trying to find the protocol that was used so that I can invest in it.

YouTube University

But look… I have a podcast or YouTube for you to listen to.

It’s good stuff. Especially if you want to learn to write.

TLDR…

Here’s the gist of it.

Do Copy Work - Find some good writing and copy it word for word by hand. That’s the equivalent of practicing the piano using sheet music. You’re just copying pre-written music to practice. Same for your writing. You're copying good writing to practice.

next.

Write Your Draft

then.

Let it incubate - or let your writing sit. Go for a walk, go to sleep, come back tomorrow. It doesn’t matter, just let it sit there so that you can come back later and…

Edit - editing is what makes your writing good.

after all that ... hit Publish.

But look go listen if you have time this week.

Alright Folks, Let's have a great week.
