Jim Builds. But Now He Writes Better Than You.

Jim Builds. But Now He Writes Better Than You.

This week, something happened.

One of our top foremen, let’s call him Jim. Jim sent an email to the City’s engineer asking for more money. It was so well written, so perfectly structured, the engineer called back within two hours to approve the change order.

Later, the City Inspector read the email and said, “Damn, I didn’t know Jim wrote so well.”

If you knew Jim, you’d understand.

Jim. Doesn’t. Write.

Jim builds things. He solves problems. He manages chaos. Writing isn’t his thing.

Until now.

Jim’s email was flawless.

Because Jim used AI.

The uncomfortable truth about small business today

We live in an age where your neighborhood contractor can write like a Fortune 500 CEO. Where your local service provider can craft beautifully written and designed proposals.

The playing field has been leveled. Permanently.

You're no longer just competing with other businesses.

You're competing with AI.

Every email, every proposal, every touchpoint. AI is optimizing the business behind it.

You cannot win this battle with good intentions alone.

The great equalizer has arrived

For years, businesses with a marketing team had the upper hand. They won more jobs, not because their work was better, but because their marketing was convincing. They were fast…it looked like they had a big team behind the machine.

And the tool that makes it happen costs less than your coffee habit.

This isn’t about cutting corners

This is about staying competitive.

Every hour you waste fighting with words is an hour stolen from the work that actually grows your business.

The choice every small business owner faces

You can either:

A) Keep struggling with every customer email, proposal, and follow ups…while your AI-enabled competitors move faster, sound sharper, and win more work.

Or

B) Embrace the tool that levels the playing field, and focus on what really matters. Doing great work and growing your business.

The smart money is on B.

Your customers have already decided

They expect clear communication. They want follow-ups that respect their time.

Your “AI” savvy competitors are already delivering.

The question isn’t should you use AI for business writing.

It’s will you adapt fast enough to keep winning jobs?

The new rules of small business

Speed matters.
Clarity wins.
Professional communication is a must.

AI delivers all three.

Your competition already knows this.

Do you?

How are you using AI in your business? Hit reply and let me know.

This week, I used AI to help write a letter for a time extension on a construction project, and it worked. I used it to extract data from the project manual to put together a schedule of values. I used AI to learn how to link an internal database and do a mail-merge, sending out a bunch of emails for a bid proposal, saving hours of our team's time.

I also used to help calculate some earthwork quantities using the project plans. I don't think it was 100% accurate, but it certainly helped me get in the ballpark.
